Adorable Guinea Pigs are here at Petland Kennesaw!

July 12, 2018

Not quite ready to buy a dog?

That’s okay, because we understand that sometimes pet ownership is taken with baby steps. Thankfully, we can help you because we have other animals on sale here at Petland. Besides puppies and kittens, we have small animals for sale like guinea pigs.

The guinea pig belongs to the rodent family and despite the name, they are not in the pig family nor do they come from Guinea in Africa. Guinea pigs originated in the Andes of South America. In Western societies, the domestic guinea pig has risen to popularity as household small animals for sale.

When you purchase these small animals for sale, we recommend that you take proper care and handle them correctly while they’re young. They actually love being picked up and carried! They rarely bite or scratch, even though they are shy and often hesitate to leave their cage. One of the absolutely cutest and most adorable things about guinea pigs is that they whistle! When they are excited and happy and familiar with you, that’s how you’ll be greeted!

The guinea pig’s natural diet is grass and their teeth, which grow throughout their lifespan, are made for chewing plant matter. Their diets should consist mainly of fresh grass hay like timothy hay and food pellets, which are based on timothy hay. Alfalfa hay is a popular food choice and most guinea pigs will eat large amounts of it when offered. Be careful of over feeding them. They are prone to obesity which could possibly lead to other health problems for the guinea pig animals for sale.

Five Furry Facts:

At Petland, we have these cute animals for sale and we also have many of the essentials you’ll need to care for them once they’re in your home. Come visit and take one home today!
